Strategic positioning

Playtech has positioned itself through acquisition and strategic partnerships to take advantage of opportunities in locally regulated markets which are viewed as increasingly important.

Acquisitions strengthen product portfolio
Through acquisitions Playtech strengthened previously under-represented product areas: GTS delivers a sophisticated games platform with the ability to integrate 3rd party games and localised content; Virtue Fusion brings market-leading network liquidity to Playtech's bingo product in what has been the fastest growing online segment in 2009.

Following the acquisition of sportsbook software provider P2P, Playtech soft-launched its sports betting product at the end of 2009. This is targeted at operators who wish to have a complete product offering for their local market. Through its automated features it offers a unique opportunity to penetrate a new area without substantial investment in building a trading team for odds pricing.

Playtech now has a full suite of products supported by the most sophisticated operating platform in the market. Our licensees are able to seamlessly add additional products. The single unified platform is a significant competitive advantage, and gives operators the ability to maximise substantial cross-selling opportunities.

Strategic partnerships deliver global reach and deep local relationships
Playtech has sought to partner with other B2B providers to target locally regulated markets where the combined skill-set delivers substantial benefits in terms of global reach and deeper local experience and relationships in particular market segments.

The most significant of these is the new joint venture with Scientific Games focusing on lottery operators worldwide. This has broadened Playtech's reach and expertise in what is a highly regulated and principally government-controlled environment. Scientific Games has nearly 40 years' experience and a considerable footprint both in the key US market and with over 60 international lottery contracts.

In addition the software partnership with Scientific Games' subsidiary, The Global Draw, brings critical mass to Playtech's server-based terminal business, Videobet. Playtech has also partnered with Sportech, which has both a football pools business and a newly acquired international pari-mutuel horse racing operation. This partnership will offer cross-selling distribution opportunities for both parties and again strengthen Playtech's position with key operators.

These strategic partnerships will immediately give Playtech detailed local understanding and relationships with existing operators who are known to be looking to enter the online or server-based gaming market.
